Art by the Sea Summer camp

Carpinteria Valley Arts Center presents Art by the Sea Summer Camp, a fine art summer camp for children. Art by the Sea Summer Camp gives children a chance to draw, paint and make art inspired by the ocean. Children will participate in weekly fieldtrips to the beach, sketching sessions in the Arts Council’s gallery, talks by working artists, and more. Art From Scrap: Green Kids Summer Day Camp

Kindermusik Adventures Camps

Showstoppers 2009 Summer Sessions

Showstoppers offers an opportunity to participate in a musical production, complete with costumes, sets, and sound reinforcement. Children and youth of all skill levels are welcome. Young Singers’ Club Performing Arts Camps

Camp Wheez

Camp Wheez is a day camp for elementary school aged children with chronic asthma, providing them a camp experience designed for their special needs. The American Lung Association in California sponsors this annual program. Camp Wheez provides asthma education, physical development skills, arts and crafts projects, and good old-fashioned camp fun. Our Camp Wheez staff is made up of volunteers from the community, including medical professionals.

The 18th summer session of the Happy Adventure Summer Camp will be held weekdays from Aug. 3-Aug. 21, 2009. Carpinteria Junior Lifeguards

Carpinteria Junior Lifeguards (JGs) program has been a summer favorite and a tradition since 1967. During this seven-week program, certified ocean lifeguards teach all aspects of lifeguarding. Junior Lifeguards have great fun while they learn first aid skills, CPR, ocean ecology, beach and wave dynamics, and the value of spirited competition and physical fitness. All particpants will be required to pass a noncompetitive ocean and pool swim test. The purpose of these tests is only to determine swimming ability as it pertains to each child’s safety in the water.

Carpinteria Kayaking Adventure Camp

Have fun learning basic kayaking, boating safety, and snorkeling. Doggone Fun Camp

Participants will learn obedience training with their canine, exercise with their dog, learn about dog health, and responsible pet ownership. Junior Lifeguards

If your child loves the beach and ocean, they’ll be sure to enjoy this world-famous, nationally affiliated, and disciplined training program incorporating swimming, running, competition, and education. This popular program includes strenuous daily workouts, water safety, first aid, surf lifesaving, marine education, lifeguard competitions, and more. New participants must pass a noncompetitive 100-meter swim in 2:20 or less, a 15-yard underwater swim, and tread water for 4 minutes. Beach Volleyball Clinic

All ability levels are welcome to join instructor and Santa Barbara Masters Champion Jon Lee at East Beach for a morning immersion in beach volleyball. Players are introduced to doubles and six-person team play and are coached on correct ball handling, passing, setting, and hitting. Learn why team strategy and understanding technique are a big part of the game. This class will challenge your child’s endurance! When: Eleven 1-week sessions.

Montecito Family YMCA Counselor-in-Training and Leader in Training

We are looking for dedicated, service-oriented teens to join our team as LITs and CITs. Receive an extensive training program that teaches YMCA values, leadership, and communication skills. Fund-raising, team building, and fieldtrips are part of the training program.

Drop-in and check out S.B.’s only teen-centered facility. Teens have access to XBOX 360m PS3, Wii, full DDR system, the Internet, Air Hockey, pool table, Foosball, free wi-fi, snack bar, and a recording studio. Weekly activities, classes, and special events are offered throughout the year. Community service opportunities available for teens and adults.

Water Safety Instructor Course

Earn your certification to teach all levels of swimming to all ages. This course is a great opportunity to learn teaching techniques, stroke development, and swimming skills. FIT training included.
