In the wake of last month’s alleged attack of two Asian students by members or guests of UCSB’s Pi Kappa Alpha (“PIKE”) fraternity, the organization’s philanthropic Fight Night event has been cancelled by campus authorities after running 16 years in a row. Pi Alpha Phi, in an attempt to assume control of the event, faced stiff opposition from UCSB’s Greek Council. A PIKE spokesperson said that the fraternity will fight the decision, which PIKE says is not yet final.
