Just to fact-check your “This Week in History” blurb, James Dean’s infamous crash occurred in San Luis Obispo County just north of Cholame, at the intersection of Highways 41 and 46 (the 466 at the time). Unless the county lines have been redrawn since then, it was not in Monterey County as you reported. I’m just a local with a morbid fascination for this kind of trivia. – Christian Layow
