On the foggy night of 6/6, a 37-foot sailboat ran aground at around at 9:15 p.m. near the Mesa lighthouse. According to City Fire officials, the two men on board, ages 58 and 62, were sailing from Hawaii to Oceanside, CA, when their vessel sprung a leak and they decided to head to Santa Barbara for repairs. They reportedly became disoriented in the poor weather and hit the shore in three feet of water below Lighthouse Place and Edgewater Way. Neither were injured, and the Harbor Patrol is working with the owner to determine if the vessel is salvageable.
