What: Locally owned and operated by the Kim family since 2004, Kyoto is a high-energy dining destination featuring Japanese cuisine.

The Dish: Embark on a Japanese dining excursion at this high-energy sushi stop on upper State Street. Tatami rooms offer private dining for small groups and celebratory events, commonly filled with laughter and sake. A traditional sushi menu and Kyoto protocol includes nigiri, temaki, sashimi, and hefty premium rolls. The specialty rolls are a mouthful in both size and flavor, filling their shaped plates like a burrito stuffed and sauced. Choose from tempura rolls, eel snake rolls, a volcano roll with dynamite sauce, or a salmon crunch roll, among others. Sharp knives slice sashimi precisely at the plumpest cut, serving what’s freshest and most colorful in combination plates or à la carte. Beef, chicken, noodle, veggie, and tofu entrées are also available for both lunch and dinner. Known for its social dining atmosphere, knife clanging, and sake bomb pounding, Kyoto pleases a wide variety of palates and party sizes.
