Hit in the Arm; Authorities Don't Know if Gang-Related

Santa Barbara police are investigating an early morning shooting on the city’s Eastside which left a 16-year-old with a gunshot wound to his arm.

Just before 2 a.m. dispatch received a call of gunshots fired, and minutes later the victim called on his cell phone to report he had been shot. Police located the victim walking near Canada and Cacique Streets.

The victim was taken to Cottage Hospital where he was treated for the wound. Police, meanwhile, continue to investigate. Neighborhoods have been searched for witnesses, evidence and leads, according to police spokesman Lt. Paul McCaffrey, but no arrests have been made. He said it has not been determined whether the incident is gang-related.
