Roxana Bonderson Awarded Woman of the Year
National Association of Professional Women Recognize Non-Profit Leader
Worldhealer, Inc. is thrilled to announce that our founder, Roxana Bonderson, has been awarded the prestigious Woman of the Year Award for 2010/2011 from the National Association of Professional Women for her demonstration of excellence and dedication within her profession. Included in the award is a full year membership, a feature in their association newsletter, and the opportunity to start a NAPW Santa Barbara Chapter.
Roxana has been recognized for her efforts in founding Worldhealer, Inc., a local non-profit organization that works towards systemic social and behavioral change through comprehensive education programs. Worldhealer’s mission is two-fold: to cultivate understanding and appreciation of global diversity within the local community and to prepare underprivileged and disadvantaged individuals in developing countries to successfully integrate and compete in an increasingly globalized world. Both of these components encourage participants to become active members of their community.
Locally, we are starting Global Awareness Clubs in schools, from UCSB to Montessori, to teach local youth about the world, and connecting global topics to our local community. Worldhealer is also in the process of developing a sister city in order to support our local project goals.
Internationally, our Global Studio Program will provide supplemental education, nutritious meals, and vocational training to people in developing countries. Our goal is to provide participants with the tools and opportunities to bring themselves and their families out of poverty. Our pilot project, located in Maresias, Brazil, already has support from the local community including bus and site headquarters donations and several local non-profits asking to combine their projects with the Studio Program.
Single-handedly founding this organization, Roxana has led her team through more obstacles since it’s commencement in early 2009 than many non-profits have navigated in twice that time. Worldhealer is already an IRS approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has programs running locally and the foundation for a successful international program once funding is secured.
