prAna at Santa Barbara Outfitters Grand Opening
Event to feature fashion show, local beer, wine and food, and special performances on October 25
In partnership with Santa Barbara Outfitters, prAna opened up their second national store at 1200 State Street on Thursday, October 7, 2010.
The Grand Opening will be Monday, October 25, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. prAna’s passionate customer base ranges from yoga and climbing enthusiasts to active, healthy individuals who are environmentally conscious. Long known for versatile and ‘purpose-built’ designs with a focus on sustainable materials, prAna is found in over 42 countries.
The prAna at Santa Barbara Outfitters Grand Opening will feature a fashion show including local luminaries, locally sourced food, wine and beer, live music by Bomo Designs musicians, jewelry by Maile, a cake and cookies designed by Mei Sheng Russo, live art by Jeremy Collins, a raffle to benefit an area non-profit, and an acro-yoga performance.
The opening of prAna at Santa Barbara Outfitters is an innovative partnership between the two companies. When an adjoining storefront on State Street opened up, Luisa and Mark Hyatt, owners of Santa Barbara Outfitters, recognized a great opportunity to showcase their top selling brand – prAna. prAna and SBO worked together to design and merchandise an inspirational space, which is joined to the main store by a beautiful archway. The newly renovated space gives a comprehensive impression of the prAna brand.
Matt Weaber, prAna Sales Manager said, “We strive to make prAna about more than just selling clothing. From the inception, the idea was to utilize the brand to bring about positive change. Our plan is to make this store a community hub and we will give back a percentage of the sales of the store specifically earmarked for community outreach. We feel so fortunate to share this experience with the like-minded team at Santa Barbara Outfitters. They have quickly become part of the prAna family and we at prAna are excited to play a larger role in the amazing Santa Barbara community.”
Luisa Hyatt, owner of Santa Barbara Outfitters and prAna at SBO said, “prAna is a great fit for Santa Barbara: Community minded, focused on environmental sustainability and a catalyst for people to connect with nature and to honor their own bodies. We are excited about this partnership and the many possibilities we foresee. The joining of the two spaces has opened up SBO and the flow between the two makes it seem like they have been joined for years.”
The word prAna is a 5,000 year old Sanskrit word meaning “life force and energy.” We try to honor the meaning by inspiring healthy, conscious, and free-spirited living. We are climbers, yogis, artists, adventurers and travelers, and we make clothing that we wear on the mat, at the crag, and in our everyday lives.
Santa Barbara Outfitters, locally owned and operated, is Santa Barbara’s Year-Round Playground. SBO focuses on servicing the local community and its visitors and encourages people to get out and Explore, Experience, and Discover.
