Roger Durling, SBIFF executive director, recently announced that James Franco will be receiving the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s Outstanding Performance of the Year Award during next year’s 26th annual event. Franco, who has starred in Milk, Spider-Man, and In the Valley of Elah, will be recognized for his work in Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours. Visit sbiff.org for details.

NECTAR is seeking visual artists interested in contributing works to hang during its upcoming showcase. The multi-discipline group debuts NECTAR: GRIEF at Yoga Soup on Saturday, December 4 in conjunction with Hospice Santa Barbara. Works should be connected to the theme of loss. The Incredible Children’s Art Network (ICAN) presents its first-ever All School Art Show Thursday, November 4, at the S.B. Library’s Faulkner Gallery (40 E.
