Ag Worker Carpool Program Shut Down

Thu Apr 14, 2011 | 12:00am

Santa Barbara will be shutting down a vanpool program that transports agricultural workers to the fields each day because it was not financially feasible. The county will, however, be using grant money to make a contribution to a statewide program, known as Cal Vans, which will take over vanpooling in the county. Cal Vans—which runs vanpools throughout the state—will transport workers not just to agricultural jobs, but to all different types of employment throughout the county.
