Santa Barbara is lucky to count Seymour Duncanas one of its own; his significant contributions to the sound and technology of electric guitars is well documented and much appreciated by guitarists world-wide.

Lesser known, perhaps, is the enormous generosity of Seymour Duncan—the person and the company—of which our organization, Notes for Notes, has been a very fortunate and most grateful recipient. Thanks to the ongoing support and efforts of Seymour, Cathy Duncan, Evan Skopp, Maricela “MJ” Juarez, and the rest of the Seymour Duncan crew, the Notes for Notes kids have a very healthy supply of Duncan-equipped guitars and effects pedals in our Musicbox studios (located in the Canon Perdido and Anapamu Boys and Girls Clubs and the 1235 Teen Center). As reported in the Independent, Notes for Notes was the sole beneficiary of the recent Seymour Duncan/Steve Miller 35th Anniversary concert at the Lobero theater. The considerable proceeds from that event (organized by Seymour Duncan and New Noise Santa Barbara) will go a long way toward providing free, safe, music-based, venues for kids who might otherwise find themselves in less than ideal situations. On behalf of the Notes for Notes board, staff, and kids, I want to thank the entire Seymour Duncan organization for its unflagging dedication and support.
