Caltrans has extended the deadline for public comment on the carpool-lane project from Carpinteria to Santa Barbara. The draft EIR — which can be viewed online or at the Santa Barbara Central and Eastside libraries, and the Carpinteria and Montecito libraries — proposes five options for rearranging the highway ramps along that stretch. All five options would remove the fast-lane ramps. Caltrans has also left open the question of whether to cut into the median, outside landscaping, or both when adding lanes.
