Art Museum Cancelling Free Sunday Admission for Families

The Santa Barbara Museum of Art will cancel its free-Sunday-admission-for-families program as of September 6 because tourists who, in the words of museum director Larry Feinberg, “could and would pay” are disproportionately enjoying that benefit. Instead, Feinberg said, starting September 6, the public will be able to get every Thursday, 5-8 p.m., for free as part of the Chase Free Thursday Evenings.

In addition, he said, the 25,000 school kids who visit the museum annually are given free passes with three punch cards, and all students K-12 are admitted free, as are college students and teachers at local schools, assuming they have the ID to prove it.
