Graduates of Santa Maria Veterans Treatment Court Honored
The event will begin at 2:00 p.m., in Department 7 of the Santa Maria Superior Court and will include community leaders, guest speakers, local service organizations, and representatives from the Veterans Administration (VA). Refreshments will be served.
Santa Maria’s VTC program was established in November 2011, as a collaborative effort between the Court, Probation, the Department of Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Services, the District Attorney, the Public Defender, community based organizations, and the VA. The goal of VTC is to serve justice-involved veterans struggling with addiction, serious mental health issues, and/or co-occurring disorders. The 12-18 month program promotes sobriety, recovery and stability, and assists veterans in their attempts to access the VA services and benefits available to them. The veterans who will graduate have successfully completed their treatment program and have maintained sobriety.
