Resident Sues Over Hollister Avenue Development

Claiming that the recent approval of a large mixed-use development off of Hollister Avenue near the Camino Real Marketplace would harm the community in myriad ways and was based on a faulty environmental report, Patricia Moreno is suing the City of Goleta in hopes of stopping the Westar project from becoming a reality. In a lawsuit filed earlier this month, Moreno alleges that the building of 200-plus residences and a commercial center would “irreparably” damage “aesthetics, air quality, increase traffic, increase noise, increase lighting, increase congestion, and interfere with the neighboring property owners use and enjoyment of their properties.” In response, the city’s attorney Tim Giles explained, “The allegations are very broad. The city looks forward to hearing from the petitioner as to what her specific legal concerns with the approval are and what she believes are the necessary steps to remedy any deficiency.”
