Competent and Compassionate
I wish to express my thanks to all the staff at Cottage Hospital where I was admitted and had surgery in January of this year.
I had a fall on the sidewalk and suffered a subdural hemorrhage, requiring burr-hole surgery by neurosurgeon Dr. Thomas Jones.
From the very beginning, in the emergency room, someone very quickly brought a wheelchair to the car, and a volunteer kindly offered me an ice pack for my face and head. The emergency room staff were all caring and professional, as were the staff in ICU, especially night RN Steve and day RN Vivian, who saw to my every need and were so compassionate, as was Melissa the recovery room nurse.
On the neuro floor I must mention all the nurses, therapists, and ancillary staff, especially RNs Rachel and Bernadette, and the night RN who, as I told him, reminded me of Jeff Bridges!
I thank the doctors and nurse practitioner, most especially Dr. Delio and Dr. Jones, and the doctor in the Radiology Department who inserted my PICC line so quickly and painlessly.
The café staff were always immaculate and kind, serving beautifully presented little meals. I think it must be voted the best hospital café in the country!
To all the other staff whom I have not mentioned, you were all instrumental in my recovery. Forgive me, it’s because my memory fails me!
Last but certainly not least, thanks to Jill and Mariah, the physical therapists at Cottage Rehabilitation, who are at present helping me regain my strength and stability.
