Online education juggernaut lynda.com laid off 45 employees, just under 10 percent of its 460-worker staff in order to “eliminate corporate operations redundancy” after an internal reorganization, said spokesperson David Glaubke. The first mass layoff for the Carpinteria-based bootstrapped business comes a little over two months after its first capital fundraising campaign, in which three private investors infused it with $103 million. The financing had no connection to the reorganization, said Glaubke, as that money is “not for day-to-day operations.”
