If we are the keepers of the world consciousness, then we need look no further than our own backyard to exercise that consciousness. Is it compassionate to have millions of Americans — men, women, and children, not to mention the elderly — not know where their next meal is coming from? Is it compassionate to see college graduates with advanced degrees working for $15 an hour, with an education that cost over a hundred thousand to obtain, when the higher-paying jobs have been shipped by American corporations to a third-world country where the job is done for $3 an hour so the corporations, but not people, profit? And, finally, how can we justify our worship of the NRA when our own children are gunned down in their school yards? Where is the compassion there?

What is our government doing trying to justify entering Syria when the American people, who they are supposed to serve, are against it? How can a country twist its values so and still try to justify them?
