Because the automobile causes the problem, the humane thing to do is start all the traffic lights to blinking whenever there is a high ozone warning in Santa Barbara. This traffic alert would follow the ozone level as it moved into different areas. The motorists would be aware of what was happening when they saw all the old and afflicted people wearing the little white masks so they didn’t get sunburned lungs and become ill. The tourist trade would object, but it’s our health; we live here.
