Commission for Women Releases Gender Analysis

Women fill 39 percent of appointments to the city’s and county’s 103 boards and commissions, according to a recent analysis by the county’s Commission for Women. Men currently occupy 49 percent of those volunteer positions, and 12 percent are vacant. Goleta’s groups are 24 percent women, while Solvang’s are 67 percent female; Santa Barbara’s percentage is 40, Lompoc’s is 41, Carpinteria’s is 45, and Santa Maria’s is 49. The county will soon launch one webpage that lists all vacancies for all boards.
