Free Tax Assistance by the Best

“The best tax site in the nation,” said the Los Angeles IRS office in 2010, resides at the Dons Net Café at Santa Barbara High School. There, IRS-certified student volunteers can complete income tax returns for low-income individuals and offer assistance to SBHS alumni or parents. “We want everyone who is eligible for refundable tax credits … to get them, and child-tax credits!” the Dons’ website affirms, citing especially Earned Income Tax Credit and Education Credits.

The volunteers staff Room 70 on campus from 3-6 p.m. on Thursdays, and request that visitors check in at the principal’s office first. More information is available at (805) 963-8597.
