Resurfacing Closes Some County Roads

Project to Fix Roads Covers North and South County

Mon May 04, 2015 | 06:00am

County road maintenance to the tune of $1.6 million commenced last month in the North County with pothole repairs and applications of asphalt emulsion and crushed rock, or scrub seal. Pavement Coatings Company took the pavement preservation project on the road into the South County recently to ultimately cover 29 lane miles. The scrub seal surface is rough and delays due to the work can be expected.

The second stage will go back to add an asphalt and sand micro-seal to the scrub surfaces, which takes several hours to dry. County Public Works’ Transportation Division requests that drivers stay off that surface until the road opens up again to give the seal time to dry and last for many years. The work takes place 7 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday, along various county roads and should be completed by mid or late June.
