Ronald “Chad” Williams, arrested last year for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy while serving as director of the San Marcos Christian Camp in 2005, was convicted Friday on two counts of child molestation.

A jury found Williams guilty of one count of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old and one count of attempted sodomy with a child younger than 14 years old, according to the District Attorney’s Office. Both crimes took place in 2005 at San Marcos Christian Camp when the victim, a “family friend” of Williams, was 11-years-old, Deputy District Attorney Von Nguyen said.

Williams’s victim reported the allegations to the Sheriff’s Office back in 2014, as The Independent previously reported. “Because of the victim’s bravery in coming forward, the community will be protected from this child predator,” said District Attorney Joyce Dudley.

Williams will be sentenced on February 3, 2016 in Santa Barbara County Superior Court. He faces a maximum of nine years in state prison.
