[UPDATE, 3:23 p.m.] Milton Oglesby, 69, is the man’s name. He was a local transient. Investigation into the manner of his death — this point not deemed to have involved foul play — is pending toxicology and lab results, said the Sheriff’s Office. An autopsy will take place next week. “Preliminary indications are that Oglesby died within the past 24 hours of when he was discovered,” as stated in a Sheriff’s Office release.
A woman walking her dog Thursday afternoon at around 4:30 p.m. on Haskell’s Beach below Bacara Resort & Spa discovered the body of a dead man located in a rocky area of the beach, according to a Thursday Sheriff’s Office press release.
Although the man’s identity is unknown, he appeared to be in his fifties or sixties, the Sheriff’s Office said. The Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau is investigating his identity and the circumstances surrounding his death. In the meantime, people with information about the case are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (805) 683-2724 or call anonymously at (805) 681-4171.
