UCPD Issues Off-Campus Sexual Assault Alert

An incident Saturday evening involving a potential sexual assault was reported Sunday to Isla Vista Foot Patrol (IVFP), according to an off-campus crime alert emailed to the UCSB community Thursday afternoon by UCPD.

On Wednesday, the female survivor reported to authorities she had been forcibly sexually assaulted by a stranger between 9:10 p.m.Saturday night and 12:15 a.m. early Sunday morning on the beach below Del Playa Drive. She described her assailant as an “unknown male, 5’8” with [a] muscular build,” as stated in UCPD’s alert.

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crime and urges anyone with information to contact them anonymously at (805) 681-4171 or online.
