For two nonprofits, the Santa Barbara Foundation and the Santa Ynez Foundation, 2016 marks the last year of a three-year partnership, which provided $100,000 per year to support valley and Los Alamos agencies. Funded by philanthropic giant the Santa Barbara Foundation, the three-year grant was split each year between the foundation’s Express Grant program and Santa Ynez Valley Foundation grants.

Santa Barbara Foundation Express Grants, “used to advance excellence in the nonprofit sector by improving organizational efficiencies,” are awarded with a short review period to organizations in up to $5,000 increments, according to the foundation’s February 1 press release. Nonprofits may allocate the funds to distinct projects, personnel training, organizational development, and community capacity building.

To apply for an Express Grant, county nonprofits should apply online at the Santa Barbara Foundation’s website. Los Alamos and valley organizations may submit online applications to the Santa Ynez Valley Foundation or call (805) 688-2991 for more information.
