Goleta Sanitary District has one of the most advanced reclaimed water systems in Southern California, but incredibly, for more than 21 years, it’s only delivered about one-third of its capacity. Nearly 14 billion gallons of water have needlessly been dumped into the ocean! That’s roughly the volume of La Cumbre Peak!

Neither Goleta San nor its sister agency, Goleta Water District, has been bold enough to get reclaimed water to most users who need it. Right now, “purple pipes” are the only way, and there aren’t enough of them. They’re astronomically expensive to install, and they can’t possibly be agile enough for changing land use patterns.

Trucks are the obvious answer. But for 21 years, neither GSD nor GWD has moved on using trucks. Yes, it will take regulatory changes, vision, and courage, but 21 years? Children born when this project started are graduating from UCSB.

Diane Powers is tough, and she has the vision and courage to make it happen. She’s also been the Administrator of GSD’s sister agency for 27 years, so she knows the fine print.

She doesn’t want to wait another 21 years.

Please vote Diane Powers for Director.
