Mike Lazaro has taken the reigns at the Alcazar as the new President. Thirteen years ago he and Asa Olsson took over the Alcazar and they together with a team, created Carpinteria’s Community Theatre. Mike is one of the key people behind many of Carpinteria’s major events including the Avofest, Rods N Roses, The 4th July Parade, the Holiday Parade and more. 

Debbie Nomura was also recently appointed as the Executive Director. “I am looking forward to introducing some exciting new programs, including a speaker series and more community focused events” said Debbie. “The theatre will continue to offer movies and specific programs for seniors and children on a sponsorship basis, as well as theatre, concerts and improv.” 

Michael Avery is the Vice President of The Alcazar and two new Board members have been added. 

Andy Patrick, the Founder & CEO of the new Flywheel Photo & Film Festival scheduled for early June 2024 here in Carpinteria. He has been an entrepreneur over the last forty years in both the nonprofit and for profit sectors at the intersection of visual storytelling, technology and design. He has co-founded and led successful organizations such as FiftyCrows Foundation and its International Fund forDocumentary Photography, the National Geographic All Roads Photography & Film Awards for Indigenous storytellers, LiveBooks portfolio websites for over 15,000 photographers, and the Roam Awards for adventure photography and filmmaking. Andy has served as a Board member for Mother Jones magazine, Richard Gere’s Foundation for preserving Tibetan culture, and the Kinsey Institute for human sexuality.  He lives in Carpinteria with his longtime partner Megan. 

Lorraine McIntire CPA has also joined the board as Treasurer.  She has extensive business expertise as a CPA, broad nonprofit Board level experience, deep connections in Carpinteria, and is sincerely committed to the greater community. She is the former Vice President of Tax for Camping World Holdings, and she currently serves as President of the Rotary Club of Carpinteria Sunset, Member of Rotary’s District 5240 Finance Committee, Treasurer of the Carpinteria Dog Owners Group, Vice President of the Plumery, and Chair of the Downtown T Business Advisory Board. Lorraine lives in Carpinteria with her two miniature dachshunds, Sammy and Star. Her skills and energy will help drive forward the shared goals and vision of The Alcazar Theatre.
