In the race to represent the county’s 1st District, Assemblymember Das Williams has on hand $378,648, more than triple that of opponent Jennifer Christensen. (Most of Williams’s money was transferred from his Assembly war chest; he also has $35,922 cash on hand in a committee for Senate 2020.) A first-time candidate, Christensen has worked for the county in the treasurer’s office, the auditor’s office and county counsel for nearly 15 years. Of Christensen’s available $98,006, $20,000 came from Ron Pulice and $12,000 came from Bob Short. (Both bankrolled opposing the controversial Highway 101 widening.) In the race to represent the 3rd District, U.S. Corps of Engineers veteran Bruce Porter has $68,090 compared to former environmental attorney Joan Hartmann’s $61,324. Also in the race is tech company founder Jay Freeman, whose finance reports have not been filed.
