OUR WINE WOMAN: Recent UCSB grad Chelsey Steinman is The Indy’s first wine writing intern ever, penning both feature articles as well as our new wine blog, Tasting the Transverse ( “It’s one of the most unique industries because the winemakers are involved from the vineyard through to the labeling of the bottle, and I really like that in this corporate-driven world,” said the Agoura native. “I get to meet the coolest people, talk to people who love what they’re doing all the time, and write about something that is delightful.” Chelsey also loves dancing ballet, ballroom, and Brazilian, the latter of which led her to perform in Solstice two years ago, when she “got heat stroke and all the skin came off my feet.” So professionally, she plans to stick to wine and writing. “Hopefully, they’ll continue to coincide, but they might not always,” said Chelsey, who’s already making plans to work the harvest this year.
