Homeless Man Dies

Ronald Woods, 60, a man well known to those on the streets, was found unresponsive in an Isla Vista park, and died after being transported to the hospital. Woods, a well-educated man known as “The Professor,” was the 16th homeless person to die this year, according to social worker Ken Williams, who said Woods had a booming voice and a “sparkle in his eye.” Woods had been booked into county jail 47 times since 2002, in many instances for public intoxication.
