Though details remain few and far between at this point, eyewitness reports say local authorities have raided two medical marijuana dispensaries this morning in the Santa Barbara area. Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies are currently serving warrants at the Choice Cooperative on Lindmar Drive in Goleta, while earlier this morning authorities served similar warrants at the Helping Hands dispensary on the 4000 block of State Street. No other details are available at this time.

And yes on 19. But in fact we have already let our voices be heard at the voting booth, resoundingly in favor of cannabis, yet the DA's office chooses to ignore the laws passed and instead is trying to write and rewrite law. Notice how suddenly all the dispensaries are being attacked as Proposition 19 looks more and more like a winner? The prohibitionists are acting like cornered rats, Fascistic and UnAmerican in their desperation.

It's time for the mayor to remove the chief of police, and we need to call a special election to recall the sheriff. The DA needs to be investigated by the state AG.
They are simply out of control.
This makes me sad.
Please vote YES on Prop 19.

Perhaps the cops are actually doing the legalization movement a huge favor (with these raids). Contact www.leap.cc to learn about cops who favor legalization. LEAP stands for Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, and these raids could actually be LEAP-friendly cops doing us a favor by publicizing the absolute absurdity of the failed WOD (War on Drugs).

I agree with the above comments. Someone on another article suggested that there might be some hanky panky concerning accounting for every gram of cannabis that has been confiscated this year, both in residential, urban, and public property grow sites. When you are out in the wild, and there are all those plants, and all that evidence - I'm just sayin'.
My expectation as a citizen is that literally every gram, ounce, pound, kilo, or ton - whatever - must be accounted for. There are chain of custody protocols for all evidence, especially drugs and cash - both present in large quantities this summer - and I wish someone credible who could, would assure the public that these raids have not only made political points for or against the "Drug War", but have not enriched the very people who crusade against this "evil scourge".
It wouldn't be the first time, and we are talking of millions of dollars in "product" and cash. When you're making $70K a year and are being asked to take a pay cut by the very people you serve, maybe you can make it up "on the side'.
I'm just saying ........

Let's not forget that innocent people are now in jail , and like others are having their lives needlessly disrupted, and will/are incurring huge debt to defend themselves.

So which is more of a threat?...someone scoring some pot from a dispensary?..or someone drunk behind the wheel?

BC is right, almost all people leaving bars in this town to drive home are over the legal limit. The problem is huge and ignored because of the tax dollars the city gets from alcohol "pushers." I've personally seen, many times, deputy DA's consume massive amount of beer the drive off. I'm sure the same is true with the police. I was not in favor of prop 19, but given the recent actions of our law enforcement agencies and our city council, I'm voting YES. Far too much time and expense has been diverted from the real safety issues in our city. I'm also voting FOR dispensaries. What kind of country do we live in where our city allows a business one day, then makes up new rules the next day, then tells a business they are in compliance, then changes their mind and tells them they must close down. UNREAL!!!! If they can do this to the dispensaries then start doing it to bars. Plenty of violations there, the first being income tax evasion and money laundering, an accepted "CASH" practice.

Smells like a Dirty Sanchez to me....
Funny how at the exact time these raids were happening, Cam decided to announce he is "ready to crack down on gang violence" and that he "vows to change his departments priorities".
Yeah, BS! Haven't SBPD and the Sheriff's department been cracking down on Gang Violence for years? Meanwhile, all those thugs and hooligans they put away during operation gator roll appear to be moving back out to the streets.
I'd love to see the kill counts of SB gangs over the past five years vs. the kill count of SB Dispensaries over the last five years.... Yeah, priorities.... RIGHT
