2/11: High School Girls’ Basketball: Buena at Santa Barbara It has been a record-breaking year for Amber Melgoza, the scoring sensation of the S.B. Dons. The 5′10″ junior goes into the last week of the regular season averaging 34.4 points per game, including a school record of 48 and five other 40-point outbursts. Melgoza also has pulled down 8.1 rebounds a game. This Wednesday-night game against Buena, a longtime Channel League rival, will be the Dons’ last tune-up for the CIF Southern Section Division 2AA play-offs. They could be contending for the league championship, depending on their Thursday-night (2/5) showdown at Ventura. 7pm. J.R. Richards Gym, 700 E. Anapamu St. Free-$6. Call 966-9101.
