Men currently occupy 49 percent of those volunteer positions, and 12 percent are vacant. Goleta’s groups are 24 percent women, while Solvang’s are 67 percent female; Santa Barbara’s percentage is 40, Lompoc’s is 41, Carpinteria’s is 45, and Santa Maria’s is 49.
