I work in the tourism industry here in SB..
I know all the tour related businessess & their owners...
So, when I say tourism is not booming,believe it.
This article is in place for tourist eyes, to bolster their confidence in vacationing here.
If the actual crime stats were posted,they would not come.
So instead of fixing our issues & making this a tour-friendly town, tourists are lied to [as are we] & lives & safety are put at risk for a buck. The city of Santa Barbara is lying to us all.

A woman... Beautiful on the inside..making her even more beautiful on the out.<> i am the sun, & she is the moon..two celestial bodies sharing the same expanse of sky...each turning on different paths, yet complimentary to the other--for without one, the other would not exist. The endless number of stars,all dancing in the sky.. but one has found its way to Earth,fallen,yet not to die. It lives within a childs laugh & twinkles in her smile--& shines its brightness from inside her soul,to radiate for miles. How ,I wonder,could a thing so small, bring such joy & love?..but remember shes Creators gift,sent from high above. Sent to dance upon the shores & sing for Mother-Earth, a living doll-blessed to us all..Behold a daughters birth!! She has within her the blood of Nations, a strong & noble race, of warriors & healers, of artists & dreamers..that no force can erase! As she walks the path that is her life..she knows I walk beside, bound by blood & unconditional love..the essence of a Fathers pride. All things that ARE,all things that WERE & all things YET to be, are all part of the grand design that brought her here to me...So in her blanket, where her life began, I hold her in my arms..my sacred child,love of my life, to keep her safe from harm. I`m as Chumash as the next Chumash person, & I say..both sides have merit. Muggy is absolutely correct in stating that "If the land is sacred,then it should`nt be sold"....I agree 100% with that....But in Amer. 2013, everything is bought & sold whether it`s right or wrong,known or unknown.
Having stipulations along with the sale that protects a small amount of special areas is appreciated & should be respected by the purchaser..."A deal`s a deal" someone said.
A $500K fine would go a long way in building an esthetic perimeter around this site.

We Chumash were not considered human or holy enough to be buried on church ground, so we were buried in a mass grave away from the Mission...

The blood I left on the battle-field says I CAN gripe about anything I want. Your gov. gave me several medals & a letter "Thanking me for my commitment & sacrifice blah blah".
I was born in SB,so I can hike where I like etc...
And unless you work for the Indy. & set the comment standards, this IS a forum of free-speech [again,which I have provided for you via bullets hitting me in numerous places while killing those who would threaten your constitutional rights].
There`s nothing wrong with being wrong..what is wrong is,not being able to accept correction.

I advocate responsible dog ownership.
Owners chose the dog,not vice-versa. So it becomes the owner`s duty to protect their pet like a child....anything less is negligence.
I have been "bluffed" by dogs EVERY time I go hiking,to the point of now carrying a large hunting knife which I brandish at attacking canines...at which,the owners get to whistling for Fido pretty darn quick!.
Animals owners are 100 & 1% responsible for the lives of their pets..without arguement.
