I don't think mankind has dominion over the entire earth and can level the entire playing field. Some places are going to be off limits to certain people, naturally, due to physical limitations and natural geography, just as I won't be going to the top of Mount Everest (or most other mountains) due to my own physical limitations. I am okay with that. I think the island situation is similar to that of the Santa Barbara backcountry, in that it generally isn't accessible to people other than via a system of trails.

I'd prefer the islands remain as natural as possible, with no airplane tours, no jeep tours, no store, no indoor visitor accommodations, just boat access to the islands and foot powered transportation on a network of trails once ashore.

I love the new bike lane and it's fitting that it passes right in front of Bici Centro. I use the lane everyday, and it is the first one that seems to have made a big difference in my commuting life. I know generally ride on Haley on my way to work, instead of zig zagging on de la Guerra and other streets as I cross town.

I enjoyed reading the fanciful obituary. Made me smile.

I know I am not the norm, but I'd prefer not to be visited by a clown or a raggedy ann/andy or a mime or a marionette or a ventriloquist while in the hospital (or any other time).

I think this situation might be a good illustration of the difference between the work of trained journalists and untrained "blogger" types.

I think Rob forgot to include other buzzwords, like "tax and spend liberal", "elitist", "death panel", "al gore's slideshow", "real american", "muslim", etc in his comment.

I, too, hope Coffee Cat doesn't change. It is interesting that they become part of a chain so that they can capitalize on the anti-chain sentiment! I hope it works (although I do like Peete's, too).

Unfortunately, the URL seems to have been hijacked and doesn't take you to the Bici Centro web site. 6/20/10.

Depending on a building's occupancy use, there are differing requirements for the number of exits, emergency lighting, etc, etc. These requirements are straightforward and in the building codes. There is a huge difference between the requirements for manufacturing facilities and "assembly" facilities, so this crackdown does not come as a surprise to me.
