Beach Fees

Beachgoers that frequent Goleta’s Campus Point received a shock
last week when feeding the parking meters in the nearby UCSB
parking lot. To many, it seemed the parking fees had inexplicably
doubled overnight – from 25 cents for 10 minutes to 25 cents for
five minutes. School officials say the rate hike in Lot 6 is the
latest in a campus-wide increase in parking fees dating back to a
policy adopted in November of last year. Officials hope to have
additional signage in place next week directing patrons to nearby
pay stations that accept cash or credit cards. Not only will this
reduce the number of quarters people need to carry around, but the
pay stations will also offer a small rate reduction based on how
long they plan to stay.
