Carpinteria Cracks Down on Leash Laws

This week rumors that Carpinteria was levying fines of up to $1,000 for having your dog off-leash in undesignated areas were hushed when city officials announced that the ticket for such infractions is still $100, plus court costs. But Carpinteria authorities – responding to a recent rise in unleashed-pooch complaints – have implemented a “low-tolerance” policy, which will cut back on the number of “warnings” given to leash-law violators.
