Lord Carrett has been labeled “clean” by many critics, but his stand-up is as bitingly sarcastic and fall-down funny as even the most foul-mouthed jokesters out there. Years of radio experience have given him a knack for winning audiences, while still keeping it airwave friendly. The result is a kind of quick-on-your-feet joke making that’s hilarious enough to crack up even the toughest crowds.

If you haven’t already heard him on satellite radio, you might want to check out Lord’s comedy CD, Unsweetened, just to get an idea of how he works. The whole thing was recorded in one take with no added laugh track or editing. When he’s doing great, it’s funny, when he bombs, it’s even better. Carrett is at his best when he’s forced to recover quickly; often times with an even funnier next joke.

Appearing with Lord is Blaine Capatch – most easily recognized as the host of MTV’s former game show “Beat the Geeks” – who has now moved on to host “Lucha VaVoom,” a brilliant combination of comedy, wrestling, and live music. The two will be at Ventura’s Comedy Esquire Club on May 11th and 12th. Tickets are $15 for all. For more info call 805-644-1500 or go to visit Carrett’s website.
