SB City Council Looks at Plastic Bag Ban

The Santa Barbara City Council took the first step toward banning plastic grocery bags and polystyrene fast food containers within city limits. The council heard from City College student activists, who urged them to take such an action. Councilmember Brian Barnwell said he supported the ban, which has already been adopted in other California cities and counties. Councilmembers decided to forward the issue to the solid waste committee for further study.
