University Janitors See an Increase in Pay

After two years of negotiations and the high-profile boycotting of certain UC campuses, the University of California and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees reached an agreement this week that gives a raise to university janitors. Under the terms of the deal, janitors at the Santa Barbara, Berkeley, and Santa Cruz campuses will receive a $1.25-an-hour bump in pay retroactive to 4/1, with an additional 50 cent raise due on 10/1.
