A small blaze broke out on Stearns Wharf on the afternoon of 6/27. The fire was contained to about a 10-by-10 foot area and was doused before it could get out of control. The Santa Barbara city fire department responded to a 911 call placed by two valet attendants, who speculated the flames erupted when a discarded cigarette was caught between the wharf’s wooden planks.
