Broken Water Pump May Have Killed Koi

More than 30 koi were found floating belly-up in the pond at Alice Keck Park Memorial Gardens on 7/29, forcing the city to investigate whether deteriorating water quality resulting from the failure of the aeration and water circulation system could have been the cause. Although the system was restarted and new water was added, further study of the pond’s ammonia, nitrate, alkalinity, pH, and dissolved oxygen will indicate how safe the water is for other animals.
