While we might be used to, and fret over, wine pairings with our meals, how often do we ponder what beer or ale best goes with dinner? David Walker of Firestone Walker Brewery and Chef Cristina Gonzalez of Lazy Acres have decided to help us with a Beer and Food Tasting Menu on Friday, August 17, from 7-9 p.m. in the Lazy Acres Cafe.

This six-course extravaganza ($39.95 per person) will feature pairings like Firestone Lager with tequila-roasted shrimp (for that extra buzz), Double Barrel Ale with double- rib Australian lamb chops that are marinated with rosemary and garlic and served with a red-wine demi-glace, and end sweetly with a Walker Reserve Float that stays close to home with McConnell’s vanilla bean ice cream. Will the porter-meets-stout in a dark maltiness of the Walker Reserve float your ice cream? Will Nectar Ales’ IPA tame the heat of tandoori chicken bites? There’s only one way to find out. For reservations, call Jordan Reed at Lazy Acres at 564-4289 x179 by August 16 at 5 p.m.
