Conditions: Fire remains in steep, rocky terrain with poor access, making direct fire attack very difficult. The weather pattern of high temperatures, single digit relative humidity and poor relative humidity nighttime recovery is expected to continue. Weak North wind is expected to develop. Progress has been made in working the fire north into the Dick Smith Wilderness and away from populated areas. Live Oak Zone: Indian Creek Canyon in the Dick Smith Wilderness experienced active burning throughout the night. On the East flank the fire continued to move towards the east in Pie Canyon. The fire continued to consume several unburned islands deep within the burn area. Richardson Zone: Fire behavior moderated during the night following yesterday’s extreme fire behavior.

The evacuation order for residents of the Paradise Road community, Los Prietos Boys Camp, Paradise Store and the Rancho Oso Guest Ranch has been downgraded to an evacuation warning effective Sunday, August 12 at 7:00 p.m. The Lower Santa Ynez River Recreation Area campgrounds, day use areas and trailheads will remain closed.
