Santa Barbara police arrested Samuel Joseph Martinez, 62, on 8/10 for allegedly beating a homeless woman. The arrest was made after police gathered new witness information linking Martinez to the assault, which happened on 7/22 of last year. On that day, a passerby found the severely beaten 53-year-old homeless woman in the 1200 block of De la Vina Street. Martinez is currently being held on $500,000 bail.
