Body Found Near Highway 154
Investigation Closes Road for Most of Today
Sheriff’s deputies are suspecting foul play in the death of an unidentified man whose body was found today in a sleeping bag on Highway 154, west of Los Olivos and one mile east of Highway 101. A motorist notified the police at approximately 4 a.m. this morning of what looked like a man sleeping near a driveway of a ranch property located at 3220 Highway 154, about 20 feet from the road. When police checked the sleeping bag, they found that the man was dead. He was described as wearing camouflage. No identification was found.
An autopsy this afternoon revealed the man’s identity, but that information is being withheld pending notification of the man’s relatives. He is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 23 years old. The cause of death was also determined, but a statement from the Sheriff’s Department said that that is also being withheld in order to protect the ongoing investigation. The investigation also necessitated the closure of Highway 154 between Zaca Station and Foxen Canyon roads. Drivers were re-routed for the majority of today.
The Sheriff’s Department is asking anybody with information about the incident to call (805) 934-6170.
