Double Oil Spill in Santa Maria

Thu Nov 15, 2007 | 06:00am

Greka Energy spilled 6,300 gallons of oil and oily water on 11/12, and another 840 gallons of crude on 11/13 in Santa Maria. County fire officials determined that valve failure was the cause of the spills, which did not impact Santa Maria’s watershed. Greka spilled 2,400 gallons into a Los Olivos creek two years ago, and has been fined more than $200,000 in the past two years for chronic safety infractions.
