UCSB psychology professor Miguel Eckstein, in association with the Universities Image Understanding Laboratory, will be awarded with one of the two $50,000 Troland Research Awards for this year. His research in sophisticated theoretical analysis and modeling that addresses fundamental issues in perception and understanding as well as their application to practical problems in human vision, visual attention, and medical images won him this prize.
