SB Schools May Lose Healthcare Money

New Medicaid rules from the Bush Administration could jeopardize health services across the nation, including efforts to screen low-income county preschoolers for vision, dental, hearing, and asthma. The soon-to-be-cut Medicaid Administrative Activities or (MAA) money has provided $1 million to the Santa Barbara School District for school psychologists, nurses, and speech pathologists. Legislation in the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, HR 4355, may prevent the rules from taking effect.
